YesterdayShrewsbury Golf Club hosted the annual Pee WeeTour match against Nottinghamshire.

Unfortunately Shropshire and Herefordshire lostbut it looked like all the under 11 s competinghad a fantastic day.





Captain/ Pro National Competition

Nick Bakerand myself played at Enville GC on Tuesday andhad a very good day. The course was in greatcondition and a joy to play.  Nickand I shot 4 under par betterball which was veryrespectable and was lying in tied 3rd place whenwe left the golf club. Unfortunately we were 8shots behind the leaders from Cardiff who shot12 under. Our playing partners also had a day toremember with the pro achieving a hole in one onthe 17th.

Bank Holiday Weekend

This weekend we have the Lavelle Trophy onSaturday. No competitions on Sunday and a BankHoliday Stableford on Monday. To enter the BankHoliday Stableford there are no tee timereservations; simply enter in the proshop.  




Monday Night Social

This week's Monday night social was a hotlycontested affair with some great golf beingplayed. Twenty seven players took to the course.Marie O'Sullivanand Phil Joneswere made very welcome as new participants andplayed well featuring in the prizes. The weatherwas kind and resulted in some excellent golfparticularly from the winning team who createdopportunities to score 4 points on two of theholes they played to emerge victorious. A wellplanned shot to the green on the sixth wascomplemented by a great pressure putt from twofoot to score a nett one began their run forvictory with a putt narrowly missing on theeight to still secure three points.

The two other teams in contention played steadygolf securing a raft of three points to put themat the top of the leader board. ElaineAdams and DavidKidby took third position with24 points over the front nine being edged out ofsecond place on count back by terrific golf fromJudith Carrolland The Captain, Nick Baker.First position was secured by RuthGrafton and PhilJones with a brilliant 25points. Marie O'Sullivanand David Czarnetzkitook the spot prize this week for the best scoreover six holes. Players retired to the diningroom to enjoy a choice of chilli or ham, eggsand chips. The next Monday night social is onthe 7th September. Members wishing to playshould sign up on the mixed notice board in thefoyer. 

Captains Charity Day Sunday 13thSeptember

Enter a team of four and enjoya round of golf followed by tasty food, with thechance to win some great prizes. The moneyraised will help fund vital equipment, likeincubators, in the neonatal unit at The PrincessRoyal Hospital in Telford, the charity selectedthis year by The Captain, NickBaker, Lady Captain, TinaRobinson and Junior Captain, JoeSherratt. Please take time tosupport this event and help to make it afantastic fun day while raising some much neededfunds to help save the lives of prematurebabies. There will be a raffle to win a range ofprizes and an auction where you could bagyourselves some unique items, from shirts signedby world class professionals to an exclusivebottle of port. A team of four can play for just£90including food and winning scores will reapvaluable prizes many worth over £120.
