Tomorrow (Saturday, 1 August) is Captain's Day and we have a full field of over 200 competitors with the first group teeing off at 7.30am and the last group of ladies teeing off at 5.20pm. All members, family and friends are welcome to attend the evening function and the Captain would appreciate it if tomorrow's prize winners could attend the evening prize presentation. Tickets for tomorrow night are available from behind the bar at £9 each which includes a meal. Please contact the bar for further information and tickets.

Mixed Match V Bridgnorth Golf Club

Last Sunday Shrewsbury hosted a friendly match against Bridgnorth Golf Club. Despite the wet conditions all the competitors enjoyed the social match. Congratulations to the Shrewsbury team who won the match 7 - 5. 




Ladies Invitation Wednesday September 9th

The Ladies Invitation will be held this year on Wednesday, 9 September. There are still some tee times available, ladies, so if you haven't booked there is still time! Booking forms are in the ladies locker room.

We know of a few ladies from other clubs who would like to play in this competition. So if you do not have a partner to invite please contact Pat Alexander on 01743 872084 and she may be able to put you in contact with a lady from another club.

Playing with Poulter - Thanks to Dave Kidby for supplying the following

Last Monday Dan and Joe Sherratt travelled to Woburn to play in the IJP Design Junior Wildcard Invitational at Woburn. This is an annual event for juniors who apply with a handicap of 15 or under. Dan was originally selected as a junior to play and Joe went to support and found himself playing when a competitor didn't turn up. The day was action packed including a nearest the pin challenge on a golfing simulator trying to get the ball closer than Ian Poulter, who after deciding his first shot to three foot would be too challenging hit a second to 17 foot to get the competition under way.

A golf competition followed with two division from 0 to 9 and 9 to 15 handicaps. Joe played well to secure 5th place in the first division. Dan enjoyed the day playing in the second division. Ian Poulter was there for the whole of the day treating juniors to a golf clinic that included hitting a driver off the deck exhibiting great ball control hitting high and low shots.

     

The day concluded with a barbeque and an opportunity to chat to Ian. Dan and Joe returned with signed pictures of themselves with Ian and an inspirational golfing experience they will remember for a long time.
