Today (Friday, 10 July) is the Captain's away day to Brocton Hall. The course, therefore, is closed due to both the 1st and 10th tee being used by visiting members from Brocton Hall. This is then followed by a junior match teeing off at 5pm against Shifnal. The 1st tee will re-open at 6.00pm for general play.
I would like to wish the Shrewsbury Juniors the best of luck and hopefully they can secure a win today to take them through to the S & H junior league finals.
Captain / Pro Challenge Match
Thank you to Tim Othen and Ron Reid who donated money to the Captain's charity and challenged the Captain and I to a match last Wednesday. Tim and Ron have a great record in these matches and they got off to a flying start with Tim getting a nett birdie on the 3rd followed by gross birdies on the 4th & 6th. Ron then holed a great putt on the 7th for a nett eagle to give them the lead. The Captain and I enjoyed a little good fortune through the next eight holes to come out on top finishing with a birdie on the 15th to secure a 4&3 win. The match could have gone either way and as always it was great fun with a competitive edge.
Any members who would like to take up the challenge please contact Nick Baker or myself. We are trying to keep Wednesday evenings at 5pm as a preferred day and time.

Club Championships
This Sunday the course will be closed all day for the Club Championships. Catering will be available at lunchtime and in the evening.
Open Events
The golf club have two Open events coming up that have spaces available. Mixed Open Am-Am is on August 9th and the Men's Invitational on August 15th. Both events are always great days, for more information and to enter please visit the Shrewsbury Golf Club website.
Captain's Day
Captain's Day is on August 1st this year, the event will be an 18 hole individual stableford for the men. The Captain also intends to run a separate ladies and junior nine hole event teeing off at 4pm. Please note that prize giving for this event will take place in the evening and the Captain will be providing a disco. Tickets for the evening party and further details will be available from behind the bar.
It is hoped that the Captain will enjoy the support of many members and their families at the evening party.
Seniors Matches
The seniors require a couple players for upcoming matches. Please check on the senior's notice board for details of the fixtures this is great way to play golf and meet new people from other local golf clubs.
