Junior Handicap League team makes Quarter Final
The Junior Handicap league team played well to secure a place in the quarter finals. In a home match against Patshull Park the team needed to win four out of its five matches to take themselves through to the quarter finals. Previously the team had played Bridgnorth home and away and Patshull Park away. With the advantage of the home course, Joe Sherratt, Larissa Jones, Sam Patterson, Dan Sherratt and Ben Reynolds took on Harry Morris, Ben O'Connor, Alex Fellows, Adam Young and Tom Young. Sam Patterson took an early lead and convincingly won his match eight and six to give Shrewsbury the advantage. Dan Sherratt also won his match eight and six to bring the four match victory needed into view. Great golf from Ben Reynolds secured the third match seven and six for an exciting climax as Joe Sherratt and Larissa Jones fought two tightly contended matches. Larissa won the sixteenth hole to put her one up and solidified the advantage on the seventeenth to win her game and help deliver the fourth game required to take the team to the quarter finals.
Saffron Jones was there to support the team after winning her inaugural match as a member of the Junior Handicap League Team.

Monday Night Social
Thank you to David Kidby for providing the following
Another beautiful summer evening set the scene for great play on the Monday night social. Thirty members took to the course with the boys outnumbering the girls. Among them were newcomers Pete Smith and The Club President, David Williams MBE, who were made to feel very welcome. The fun mixed Greensomes format with a draw for partners saw hot competition for third place. Hilary Fabian and Wyndham Emmott clinched third spot on countback from with 21 points over the front nine. Judith Carol and Dave Clarke edged into second place with 22 points, but Judith Carroll and John Cooper ran away with the match scoring 25 points. This week's spot prize was for the best performance on the mid three stroke index holes and was won by Annie Holme-Dodd and Rob Harding who had nett birdies on all three holes. Members were treated to a choice of delicious chicken curry or healthy turkey salad.
Any member wanting to play in the Monday mixed social is more than welcome and can sign up on the mixed notice board.
