Sponsored event at Chesterton Valley
Josh, Tom Kerr and I played in an individual medal competition on Wednesday at Chesterton Valley. Tom played fantastic golf and won the best amateur gross prize with a level par gross 71. Josh and I also shot level par to tie for 1st in the pro's event. It was great to be marking Tom's card and see how well he is starting to mature as a golfer, Josh was also on fine form striking the ball very well.

Handicap League
The Shrewsbury Handicap League Team took to the course again last Sunday in the fifth of their six handicap league matches playing Llanymynech. The course was in excellent condition with the greens playing at speed. David Sharpe took the role of Captain for the day and led the team in the first pairing with Will Arthur. Consistently long spectacular driving from G. Hughes who partnered A. Williams was countered by good approach shots from the Shrewsbury pairing resulting in a match with holes been won and lost in fast succession followed by a long run of halved holes through the back nine before the Shrewsbury pairing won the final holes to halve the match. Tom Kerr and Mike Saul succumbed to good play by Llanymynech pairing A. Roberts and T. Jones on the 17th. Chris Male and Terry Cole secured a further half against C. Holmes and H. Lloyd-Jones, while John Rigby took on J. Smith and C. Bowen single handed to emerge victorious on the 17th bringing the match all square. Stuart Jones and Chris Griffiths beat M. Ferguson and N. Morris on the 15th to give Shrewsbury the upper hand. Another victory on the 15th by Jake Wootton and Mike McCabe, beating M. Oakley and D Bradley secured a win for Shrewsbury 4 games to 2. The team are looking forward to their next match at Llanymynech in June.

FREE pint and food on Wednesday night
Yes: you did read that correctly, but as you know there is no such thing as a free lunch or in this case supper as we need your help on the course for an evening and this, together with great company is both an incentive and a thank you for your time and effort. Before enjoying a FREE buffet and drink we will be inviting you to take a stroll down the course with a bucket full of seedy soil to fill in divots across the course from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday 3rd June. We need as many members as possible, so that members can divide up into groups and each can take a fairway or two. Not only will it be fun, but when you are playing off a beautiful lie in the summer competitions, you'll know why. Sign up on the notice board in the main reception for a fun evening with a bucket. We would also be grateful if you could bring a bucket and trowel with you on the evening.
