Ladies Coaching Tuesday Mornings
Thank you to the ladies that turned up to the coaching session this week. We had another great turn out with 12 ladies attending. This week we covered chipping which is a key aspect to shooting good scores. The Ladies were very keen to learn new techniques and asked many interesting questions which meant Josh and I had to hit some tricky demonstration shots. Next week we are covering Pitching.
Please speak to the Pro shop staff or click here for more information and to book a place.
Shropshire and Herefordshire Alliance - Bridgnorth Golf Club
Yesterday Josh and I took two teams to play an Alliance at Bridgnorth Golf Club, both teams enjoyed the day and scored respectably well. Josh came 2nd in the individual pros competition with a great score of 2 under par, just one shot behind the leader. This moves Josh up to 2nd in the Winter Alliance order of merit with two alliances left.

Numbers rise at mixed social
The Mixed social on Monday nights continues to be successful with increasing numbers of members playing and higher winning scores. 37 members took to the course on Monday evening including two new members, David Czarnetzki and Eileen Hyde who received a warm welcome. The format changed slightly to play off the Ladies card and everyone agreed it made for an exciting competition with good scores. The competition is played over the front nine holes as a mixed greensome and teams are drawn, so you are able to meet and play with different people. Third place was hotly contested by four teams each scoring 20 points, but Marie Sherratt and Wyndham Emmott took third on countback. Elaine Adams and Rob Harding scored a very competitive 21 points to take second position. Maggie Smith and Bob Hill demonstrated excellent golfing teamwork to score a winning 22 points, basking in the glory of first place. If you would like to play in this exciting and fun competition then put your name on the list on the mixed notice board between the spike bar and gents locker room.
Bridgnorth Seniors team enjoy Shrewsbury
The Seniors section welcomed Bridgnorth on a sunny Tuesday for a friendly, yet competitive match. Graeme Crump would like to thank all the members who played and in particular Alan Cowell who stepped in as a last minute replacement. He contributed greatly to Graeme's pairing against the Bridgnorth Captain and his partner to result in an honourable half. Shrewsbury won the match 4.5-3.5, and enjoyed the camaraderie on the course with Bridgnorth members.
Young Stars Premier at Academy
Last Friday saw the opening night of this seasons Junior Golf Academy and young potential stars of the golfing world took to the practice ground. It was great to see so many members and older juniors willing to help out with the coaching, thank you to all those who did. The Junior Academy will continue to run throughout the summer and all young juniors are welcome to join in the fun. The Academy starts every Friday evening at 4.30pm.
