Handicap League
Shrewsbury took on The Shropshire last Saturday in the first of its matches in this year's Handicap league. The first round is played against three other clubs home and away. Matches against Market Drayton and Llanymenech will be played between now and June. A point is awarded for each match and each Club enters a team of twelve players in a four ball better ball format. Clubs with the highest number of points make it into round 2. This year Phil Millar is organising the team and matches. Saturday proved to be a beautiful day with some exceptional golf being played, predominantly by the Shropshire Team who won 4 games to 2 to take the match.
New Summer Menu
A new Summer menu will soon be available from the clubhouse catering team. The menu is being designed to include a number of healthy options and light bites in addition to the traditional favourites. After a round of afternoon golf you will be able to treat yourself to a delicious meal. Look out for the new menu in the next few weeks.
Monday night Mixed Socials
The popular Monday night mixed socials begin this Monday now that the evening are lighter. Played over the front nine from 5:00pm and followed by a meal in the club house it has become a popular event to socialise. The format is a mixed Greensomes stableford and promises to be fun. You'll be drawn with a partner randomly and take on the course together perhaps for the first time. Playing Greensomes helps develop your golf strategy as may take you to places on the course you have never been before. This years mixed social is organised by the Lady Captain (Tina Robinson), Hilary Fabian and Bob Hill with support from other members. If you would like to play simply sign up on the notice board between the spike bar and gents locker room.
