Fingers crossed

With the sun shining this morning and lighter evenings the feeling of wanting to get back out onto the golf course is growing. Dan and his team have been continuing to maintain the golf course and improve the drainage. Hopefully, you have been receiving the course update information from Nick Davies (Greens Chairman).

Reading the news Covid cases are rapidly falling and journalists are trying to guess when golf will restart. I would not want to guess, and I am not sure Boris has yet been briefed on when golf will re-open. Hopefully, we may get more details on Monday.

The common consensus is that once schools return in early March, meeting with friends outside, playing golf and tennis will be the next activities to be allowed. Fingers crossed we are hopefully playing some golf in March and after the past 3 months of snow and heavy rain, we can enjoy some warm dry weather.

Berger's victorious eagle | Spieth's comeback continues

Daniel Berger emerged victorious on Valentine's Day after a grandstand finish worthy of a champion. Having double-bogeyed the 18th hole to complete his third round, the young American had a change of fortunes come Sunday as his stunning eagle left him two shots clear of the rest of the field at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

However, the story of the week arguably came a few spots further down the leaderboard as Jordan Spieth competed down the stretch for the second consecutive week. It might not sound like a big story given the phenomenal start to Spieth's career, but the American has been battling with his game for a few years now in a stretch that saw him fall to 92nd in the World Rankings. Could this be the start of a resurgence for Spieth? The signs are certainly there!

Distance Measuring Devices allowed on Tour

In other news, distance-measuring devices (laser rangefinders) will be permitted at the men’s, women’s & seniors’ PGA Championships this year. Whilst this has caused some debate amongst golfers and experts alike, it’s a reminder of just how incredibly useful they can be out on the course, saving time and shots.

The value of mid-layers

I’m sure we’re all pretty thankful to be moving towards spring - which means the Masters isn’t too far away (again!) - but we’re not clear of the winter weather just yet. Some days the waterproofs might be needed, whilst other days they can be left at home. So, what’s the solution?

Well, fortunately, some bright spark came up with the idea of a mid-layer. Giving you plenty of warmth and protection from the elements, mid-layers can come in handy both underneath a jacket in harsh weather or as your outermost layer on the milder days.
