When are Golf Courses Opening? There is so much speculation in the press and on the internet when golf will re-open and what rules and regulations will be in place. Right now none of our leading golf organisations knows but hopefully, Boris will give us some clues on Sunday. Golf will be played again in France and Spain next week. Ireland is starting golf on May 18th so the golf club is preparing. Allan Mcvittie has been sending updates and is constantly working on all the documentation from England Golf to make sure that the golf club can provide a safe environment. The golf course is looking great although you may find that to protect the greens and the rest of the course the grass may be slightly longer than usual for this time of year. Once we are fully operational Dan will be reducing the length of cut and the greens within a couple of weeks of opening will be playing firm and fast. Important Information Play safe, Stay Safe (Tee Time Bookings) When the course does open please go to the golf club website for all the latest information and you will be required to book a tee time on the competitions section to keep within the government guidelines. At this stage, the only way to prevent large gatherings of golfers all appearing to play at the same time is through booking a tee time. This system is a temporary solution during this difficult period and times will not become live to book until the official announcement is made that the course can open. Thank you to the Marketing Committee for providing the following “Hopefully you will have seen from the latest newsletter from Chairman, Allan McVittie, that the Club has launched a new App. This project has been some time in the gestation and started back in January, long before the coronavirus lockdown. However, it is increasingly apparent that it will be a fast and efficient means of letting you know, via your mobile phones, when the course is open and how you can return and play golf safely. Hence, please do download it onto your phones and keep a lookout for messages from the club. Just to confirm, there is no direct cost to you and the downloading process is relatively simple: - Go to the App Store on your mobile and search for Shrewsbury Golf Club - then, download the official CourseMate App. When prompted please allow the Club to contact you direct via the App.” |
