It is great to see the golf club returning back to business as usual after the wettest Winter for 250 years. The dryer spring weather has allowed the course to remain open all week with all the greens in full use except the 1st and 3rd where the occasional temporary has been in use. On Sunday morning there are still some places left in the Davies Riddell Foursomes competition if you would like to enter with a partner please contact the pro shop.

Seniors Golf Coaching (Wednesday 13th March 10.30)
The Seniors pre season training sessions will start next Wednesday. This is always great fun and well attended with everybody going away with at least one idea on how to improve their golf. During the first session we will be concentrating on hitting irons and making sure that all the basic fundamentals are correct. Places are limited so you will need to pre register by contacting the Pro Shop. All seniors are welcome and the cost of the session is £7 per person.
Ladies member group coaching will start in couple of weeks and I will publish details of these sessions next week.
Golf Ball Sale
This weekend we have some great promotions on Dozen boxes of golf balls. Many manufactures have launched new products therefore we are clearing all our existing stock of Golf Balls. If you had a favourite golf ball from last season please call into the Pro shop and pick up a bargain.

Ken Smith Trophy
Following a 2-1 home win against Shifnal on Thursday our Seniors now require a 2.5-0.5 win against Oswestry to progress to the Final. The match will be played at Shrewsbury on Tuesday 11 March starting at 11am. Good luck to all those involved!
Hargrove A Team
Shrewsbury A are continuing to make great progress in this competition and we wish them well at Market Drayton on Sunday.
Saint David's Day Concert, March 1st
A packed clubhouse welcomed the Halfway House Male Voice Choir on Saturday evening for an entertaining concert of song, ranging from Welsh folk tunes to An American Trilogy by way of Lennon and McCartney and the Volga Boatmen. Thanks must go to Tina Robinson, House Chairman, and her committee for organising, to Peter Reaney for introducing the evening, choirmaster Brian Goodwin for conducting his excellent choir and Rod Summers for his humorous anecdotes. The accomplished piano accompaniment by Sarah Morris was greatly appreciated by the audience. Everyone enjoyed the light meal provided at the interval by our superb catering team led by Sue Bebbington. The Welsh cakes made by Jack were a real treat. Drinks were courteously served by Sue Walker and her staff. The evening also raised £150 for charity.
Don't forget to come and join us on March 29th for our Quiz Night. Your support will be greatly appreciated, you'll have a good time and the Captain promises he won't sing!

Lady Captains Coffee Morning & Fashion Show - Wednesday 19th March 10.30
This year once again we have a fantastic selection of Ladies golf clothing and we are being joined on the day by a couple of new companies who are coming to show off their new collections. Please come and join us for a fun morning and you are more than welcome to bring your friends along too. This is always a very successful morning which helps raise money for the lady Captains Charity.
Monday Mixed
Monday Mixed starts on Monday 7th April. There is a signup sheet on the Gents' Notice board in the spike bar and in the Lounge on the Ladies' notice board. All members are welcome to take part in this fun social 9 hole mixed competition.
