The evening starts at 8.00pm and would be great to see as many members as possible in attendance to receive your rewards. If you have not won anything this year then you can turn up to support your fellow golfers and if you would like to collect a prize next year then maybe now is the time to book some lessons with us here in the Pro Shop.

Ken Smith Team

Congratulations to the Ken Smith Team who are making great progress in the competition by knocking out the reigning Champions. Thank You to Phil Beaman who sent me the following report, and good luck for your next match.

'The Ken Smith team have made a great start to this year’s competition with victories at home against Shifnal B and home and away to reigning champions Llanymynech A, which has put us through to next phase. The results were 2.5 to 0.5 against Shifnal and 2 -1 in both games against Llanymynech. Team members who made contribution to these excellent results were, Derek Jury, Scott Henderson, Glyn Hughes, Dave Sharpe, Alex Jones, Ray Buttery, Kevin Roach and myself.'

Time is precious

The proposed changes to the Rules of Golf are less than two months away, so we thought we'd look at one introduction which is designed to keep your round moving at a good pace...no more five hour rounds!

Under the current Rules of Golf (27.1c), a ball is deemed lost if it has not been found or identified by the player within five minutes of beginning their search. However, under the proposed changes (18.2a), a ball is deemed lost if it is not found within three minutes - that's a 40% reduction in time allowed to search for a lost ball.

Remember - if your ball strays offline or there is a good chance that you'll have trouble finding it, hit a provisional ball to maintain your group's speed of play and avoid the embarrassment of walking back to the ground behind to replay your shot.

Electric dreams

Winter golf can be very enjoyable if you're fully prepared, but a thing of nightmares if you're not. We know many of you use a Motocaddy electric trolley to transport your bag around the course, but do you have the correct winter accessories attached to get you through your round?

Spotlight: TaylorMade P760 irons
