Competition news

Texas Scramble

This Sunday we have a Men’s Texas Scramble with a shotgun start at 8:30am. Please note that this Sunday you can get a bacon roll and a coffee from 7.30am in the clubhouse.

Prize Night

Next Friday 9th November is prize night, presentation of the trophies starts at 8pm so please come along and bring your family and friends to support this evening.

Hargrove Results

The A team had a convincing 3-0 (23 hole up) victory against Telford B. Tom Kerr and Brad Dunning won 10 up, Sean McCarthy and Jamie Hancock won 11 up and Timmy Corfield and Nick Evans won 2up. The B team lost 2-1 at home to Ludlow B. Gary Plant and Jonny Williams lost 1 down, Martyn Travis and Dan Perry won 1 up and Scott Henderson and Andy Plant lost 7 down.

Bourne Trophy Results

Well done to Jean and Graham Evans who won the Bourne Trophy

3rd-Lucy Millar and Phil Millar-91-16.0=75.0

There was only 1 two meaning Adrian Price and Marion Adams earnt themselves a very nice £16 each.

Bags of fun

Winter is coming, but we know that won't prevent you avid golfers getting out on the course to face biting winds, muddy shoes and, most of all, rain. Lots and lots of rain. What do you take from this?

As golfers, there's nothing more satisfying than a shot which is perfectly executed - even if it is a rare occurrence for many of us. It could be a booming drive which splits the fairway down the middle, or maybe a wedge shot which stops dead, two feet away from the hole. In fact, when you consider how often we use our wedges during a round of golf - see the graph below - the latter is something that we should all be striving to achieve.

So, what do you take from the graph above? In our eyes, it highlights just how important your short game is. We see a lot of you spending time hitting balls on the range, which is great, but don't neglect the less glamorous side of the game when practising - it's where your score is 'made'.
