I hope you are all enjoying the extended summer conditions. With the course in good condition and the greens being receptive we have seen some great scoring this week.
Thursday Stableford
Congratulations to Sean McCarthy who shot a gross 67 yesterday to win the stableford competition with 40 points. Sean's goal this season was to try and get down to scratch and he is now within .1 which is a fantastic achievement. I have spent much time with Sean on the practice ground even watching him hit practice balls in the snow last Winter so it is great to see him scoring so consistently well. Hopefully he can get another great round in soon, in order to achieve his goal.

Shropshire Open
Last weekend the Shropshire Open was played at Worfield Golf Club. The Club was well represented with a number of Shrewsbury members entered. Congratulations to Ian Forbes who shot 69 in the morning setting a new course record! Ian went on to shoot a 79 in the afternoon which put him in 2nd place in the 36 hole amateur competition. Other players who played well were Tom Kerr who shot a 74 in the morning and both Barry Ruddick and Simon Davies put in a solid performance to finish well up the leader board.
President's Trophy
Unfortunately I was away for the President's Trophy but the president David Allmark informed me that it was a great day with a very full field. Congratulations to the team of Peter Hanlon, Brian Price, Martin Reader and M Bould with a nett 56.1
Ladies 4 Ball Better Ball Open
Congratulations to all the ladies who organised a very well run Open competition. The event was well supported and the competitors enjoyed a beautiful day. Well done to Beryl Hitchin who had a fantastic day winning 1st prize, nearest the pin and getting the only 2.

The Seniors Mawson Cup
Apologies for last week's mistake. To set the record straight Brian Edwards won the trophy with a magnificent score of 42 points. Chris Edwards was the winner of Division 1 with 38 points.
