Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, this week we report on the first leg of the Hargrove, the Captain has a message for you, we have new arrivals from PING, and we had our inaugural Lady Captain’s coffee morning. And don't forget to collect your 2018 club diaries from the Clubhouse. Enjoy the read!

Hargrove result

Shrewsbury managed a very credible 1.5-1.5 1 hole up result away to Burghill Valley in the first leg of the Hargrove Final. Tom and Barry were 2 down with 6 to play but battled back to take a 1 up lead up the last hole but lost the last when Tom unfortunately missed what he described as a short putt.

Sean McCarthy and Jamie Hancock secured a vital point thanks to a crushing 6 up victory in the second match. In the final match Timmy Corfield and Nick Evans fell victims to a very strong Burghill pairing, 5 down after the front nine, they rallied on the back nine to keep the score to a respectable 5 down loss. The game is in the balance for the return leg on 18th of February, 10am start. Please come down and support the lads who look to seal victory in the Hargrove Trophy for the first time since 1960.

Sunday Valentines competition

There are still some spaces left, more men are definitely required so please enter on the golf clubs online booking sheet. If you require help in entering the comp, please contact the pro shop or the office.

Handicap League

Adrian Price has put a fixture list up in the club house, all those members who are interested in playing could you please put your name on the list or for further information please contact Adrian.

Cancelation of last Sundays Shot Gun Competition

Some members were obviously disappointed by the decision to cancel last week’s competition. As we all know these competitions are great fun and a big part of playing golf at Shrewsbury Golf Club during the winter months. The Captain as therefore asked me to include the following article with photos.
