Mixed Social Golf – Grand Final The ‘Grand Final’ of the Mixed Social Golf was played by 24 people over 18 holes last Sunday afternoon. We started in glorious sunshine and finished in a light drizzle, managing to miss the torrential rain that arrived later in the day. The winners, with 44 points, were Sheila Band & Paul Knapton, closely followed by Celia Russell & Roger Withinshaw with 42 points. In third place, with 38 points, were Monica Scott & Mark Glenister. Nearest the pin on 6th hole was Hilary Fabian and nearest the pin on 8th was Roger Withinshaw. Pam Morgan & David Czarnetzki were the only couple with a ‘two’. Many thanks to all those who have supported the Monday Mixed Social Golf this year. The competition starts again in April 2018.
Ladies Medal The day started out fine, but deteriorated into continuous rain by the end of the afternoon. However, despite the 18 hole medal scores resulting in reductions only, Jacqui Austin shot a very respectable 73. Annie Home-Dodd was the winner of the Birdie Trophy – for any lady with a handicap of 30 or less and who has scored at least one birdie during the playing season from March to the end of September. Well done to Annie and to all the prize winners.
Night Golf Last Friday 24 members teed off in the dark to experience 6 holes of night golf. The event was a team competition and played over holes 1-4 and then the 8th and 9th holes. The best team at playing in the dark were Les Lewis, Pat Sidley, David Gilmour and Keith Smith with 24 points. In second place was Phil Millar, Lucy Millar, Jan Dodd and Phil Dodd. Thanks To Linda Mottram who organised the event, lots of fun was had and it was a very enjoyable social evening at the club. Thank you to JW electrical who sponsored the prizes.
