Open Season
We have been experiencing some mixed weather this week, but the course is benefitting from the additional rain fall and is looking good. The mixed open last Sunday and the seniors open had full fields, well done to all those involved organising these 2 events. We have some more open events organised which is a great opportunity for our members to invite friends from other clubs to compete in and enjoy the golf course.
Please check the Shrewsbury golf club website for more details of future Open competitions.
Seniors Open
The Seniors Open had a full field with over 180 competitors on Tuesday. Despite the overnight rain the course looked and played very well with many positive comments from our visitors. This year many of the prizes did go to some of the away players so maybe the rain had slowed the greens enough to lose the fear factor.
1st - Les Welch & Albert Minshall 43 points 2nd - Chris Griffiths & Kevin Porter 41 points 3rd - Phil Owen & John Zulewski 41 points.

Cognac Trophy
The Shrewsbury team of Robert Oakley, Iain Gilmour, Joe & Dan Sherratt put up a great effort to retain the trophy they won last year. With the best 2 scores to count they attained 85 points which was involved in a three way tie with Horsehay and The Shropshire. Unfortunately Horsehay had a better back 9 to push the Shrewsbury team into 2nd place. The team also were involved with some individual prizes with Joe Sherratt winning the nearest to the pin on the 15th hole and our Captain Mr Oakley informing that he drove the par 4 18th Hole to win nearest the pin and then calmly sunk the putt for an eagle 2 which lifted the team into the lead. Well done to all the team and hopefully they can bring back the trophy next year.

We have the demo guys from Titleist coming on the 1st July. Divoting Evening - Tuesday 27th June
The greens team would like some assistance with divoting. I am sure that you will all agree that after the recent rain the course is looking in great condition and the greens are excellent. There is a sign-up sheet in the club house and those willing helpers will be rewarded for their efforts with a free drink and supper. Hopefully we can get a number of volunteers and turn it into a nice social evening.
Ladies Coaching sessions
We are going to run a series of ladies coaching sessions on Friday mornings starting on Friday 23rd June at 11.00am and the first session will be on chipping.
If any ladies would like to come along could you please click here to reserve a place.

We will be running some promotions in the run up to Father's Day. There are some great deals on Garmin and Tom Tom watches. We are also selling off some of our demo ping woods and we have a great selection of shirts available from £29.95.
