Shrub Planting Project
The Vice-Captain, L Lewis, is intending to purchase some shrubs, grasses, bulbs and other various plants to enhance the appearance of the course. The plants bought will be ones which will suit the ground we have and will bring interest and colour at different times of the year. Any members wishing to contribute a small monetary donation (£10.00) towards the cost of the above items should contact the office. All donations will be logged and acknowledged.
Monday Mixed Social Golf: 08.05.17
Thank you to Hillary for the following: This Monday we played a Texas Scramble in groups of three or four. There were 24 entries and the winners, coming in 9.9 under par, were Elke Williams, Jean Evans, Tony Burgan and Chris Edwards; second with 8.95 under par were Annie Home-Dodd, Pam Morgan and Allan McVittie; closely followed by Hilary Fabian, Ruth Grafton and David Czarnetzki with 8.8. Although the weather was dry, there was a cold wind, so we were pleased to have a delicious warm meal afterwards.
Next week will be Greensomes. Please sign the form on the mixed notice board or arrive by 4.30 for the draw at 4.45. Entry £1.00: Tee off at 5.00.
Daily Mail Foursomes
The Captain and Dave Fisher played in the 3rd round of the Daily Mail foursomes competition at Mile End on Saturday against a couple of very experienced players one who played off a 4 handicap. The match was played in very good spirt and included advice from the Rob and Dave on taking relief from an electrical pylon! Rob and Dave clinched the match on the 16th hole following a great approach shot to the green from Rob.
They are now through to the last 900 clubs in the UK and we wish them the best of luck going forwards.
