Last week on the course the greens were solid tined at a depth of 150mm. This aeration work will aid drainage and help promote plant health. Following this, the greens have been fed and top dressed as well. The greens remain in very good condition for the time of year.
Despite the wet weather this week where we have seen an inch of rain fall, we have had a decent dry spell where the course has dried out well and begun to grow. Lots of cutting has begun and we hope by the weekend if the weather holds off we will be able to get a full cut across the course.
The March Medal on Sunday will see the tees replaced back onto the mown tees for the season. We have begun to remove some of the ropes and matting on the course as we move into the playing season.
Also this week, with soil temperatures rising over seeding and fertilising has taken place across the course.
Daily Mail Foursomes
The Captain and DaveFisher went to LLanymynech on Sunday 12th March to play in the 1st round of the Daily Mail foursomes.
Weather conditions were good for the match with their playing opponents Harry (green keeper) and Garry off 7 and 17 handicaps respectively.
The home players soon took an early lead but by the 8 hole Rob and Dave were 2 up .Giving shots to opponents on 9 and 12 saw the match all square. The LLanymynech pair then took the lead 1 up with only the 18th hole remaining.
Rob and Dave managed to win the 18th to half the match and so it went to sudden death. Rob teed off on the 1st extra hole leaving it 20 foot left of green pin high, Dave chipped it within 3 feet of hole which was conceded for the Win.
Well done to Rob and Dave, best of luck in the next round.
