This week's main event at the Golf Club was yesterday's Ladies Charity Day with the annual fashion show. This year we had over 100 ladies attending from all over the county and it was a great success; raising over £500 for the Ladies Captains Charity.
Thank you to all who attended the day and everybody who helped to organise the event. A big thank you to all the fantastic models who bravely volunteered or were gently persuaded to model the beautiful clothing ranges.
Also a large thank you this year to Pat Alexander who did such a great job organising and promoting the day throughout the county. The lady Captain presented Pat with flowers as a thank you for all her efforts.
As part of yesterday's event Yonex sponsored a longest drive competition. Our Lady Captain, Jayne Breeze, led the way smashing the ball out of sight on the first hole.
Lady Captains Charity 9 Hole Open and Fashion Show by Pat Alexander
The sun started to shine early on Wednesday morning, and continued to shine all day for the Lady Captains Charity 9 Hole Open and Fashion Show. What a day we all had - 84 ladies from many local clubs as well as Shrewsbury Golf Club took to the course for two shotgun 9 hole stableford competitions - both front and back 9's were played. Sweaters were discarded and even shorts were spotted on the course: is this the start of some spring weather? The course looked great and received many compliments from our ladies - many thanks to the Greens Staff who had worked so hard to make it play and look so good!
More ladies arrived for lunch and the fashion show - and, in total around 110 sat down to a light lunch ably provided by Su and her team: a big thanks to the kitchen staff and the bar staff for making it run so well. We were then entertained by John and Anne Richards fantastic Fashion Show.
A raffle was supported very well with some excellent prizes funded by the clothing company reps. Then tea and coffee was served with homemade cakes baked by many of our ladies - ladies were asked to make a contribution to the Lady Captain's charity for a piece of cake - ladies, you were all so generous with your baking and your donations to the Lady Captains charity: the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Thank you all so very much for such a fantastic team effort: we made over £500 for Lady Captains Charity!
The results of the 9 Hole Open were as follows:
