Congratulations to Dustin Johnson who became the number one ranked golfer in the world this week by winning the Genesis Open at Riviera Golf and Country Club. Johnson finished five shots clear of European Tour star Thomas Pieters who fired an impressive final round 63 to propel himself up the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, on the European Tour, Brett Rumford won the inaugural ISPS World Super 6 title. This event is a first on the European Tour and features a 6 hole matchplay knockout format for the leading 24 players after 54 holes. The win for Rumford means he regains his tour card after losing it last year.

Unfortunately this week the Shrewsbury team lost at Shifnal 3-0 therefore it is essential that we win our next match Llanymynech away on 10th March.




Seniors Coaching

Yesterday was the first seniors coaching of the year. This session focused on hitting longer and straighter shots with woods. I'm pleased to say that everyone who attended appeared to be hitting the ball significantly better, however no one manged to hit it over the back of the practice ground and onto the second green! Maybe with Dustin Johnson's TaylorMade M1 this may have been possible! 

Next Wednesday at 10am we are focusing on chipping. All seniors are welcome - please ring the pro shop to book a place.
