Ladies Competition
Thank you to Pat for supplying the following;
The Ladies competition this week was the Lady Captains Whim: a nine hole shotgun stableford waltz. We had a good turnout of 42 ladies, in fine, almost warm weather. Well done to the following ladies:
Front 9:
First Place with 39 points: Margaret Burge, Sheila Band and Kate George.
Second Place with 32 points: Shirley Watson, Marjorie Gilmour and Amanda Christmas.
Back 9:
First Place with 33 points: Jean Evans, Ann Edgington and Gudrun Kyle.
Second Place with 32 points: Gill Snodgrass, Margaret Cooke and Tina Robinson.
Winter Competition Rules
There appears to be some confusion on winter golf competition rules and handicap qualifying rules. In short when it is felt that the course is in a good playing condition over the winter months we apply the local rule of placing on closely mown through the green which then makes the competition a qualify for handicap purposes. When the course is wet and the ball is picking up mud, to try and protect the course and keep the game fair and more enjoyable we play placing through the green losing the (closely mown ) element of the local rule. This then enables the player to clean and place in the rough making the competition a non-qualifying event for handicap purposes.
This decision is taken the day before the event by the comps and greens committee.
Hopefully the above helps to explain why some events qualify for handicap purposes and others do not.

Lady Captains Charity Open and Fashion Show by Pat Alexander
Thank you to all the ladies who have booked their places. We have spaces for 5 more teams so please contact Pat or the Pro shop if you would like to fill the remaining spaces.
The ladies fashion show will take place on Wednesday, 15 March, organised so ably by Anne and John, and their pro shop team. This year the event will be expanded to include a new ladies nine hole open competition, a light lunch followed by the fashion show. The usual opportunities for ladies to purchase from the range of fashions will be accompanied by afternoon tea and cakes and the competition prize giving.
The open will be a four ball better ball competition, full handicap shotgun start at 10.30am. Already tee times are nearly fully booked, allowing us to run competitions on both the front and back nine. It is attracting many of our own lady members as well as ladies from other clubs. If you have not booked yet, do so soon, to avoid disappointment. Booking is available on the club website (or by entry forms) and costs £10 per lady to play in the open, have lunch and go to the fashion show. If you do not wish to play in the competition but would like to come to the lunch and the fashion show, tickets are £7 and are available from the Prop Shop and from Pat Alexander.
