It didn't disappoint
Apart from the comfortable 17-11 score line in the Americans' favour, the 2016 Ryder Cup didn't disappoint. From the USA's Friday morning whitewash to McIlroy and Reed's enthralling ding-dong encounter on Sunday, we were treated throughout the three days.

These were just a couple of plaudits from the commentators during Sunday's play, one of which was from Ryder Cup veteran and 2014 Captain Paul McGinley. The level of golf really was that good. Take Garcia and Mickelson's titanic battle for example; they were a combined 14-under-par for their round - that's a scintillating 58.
Ken Smith Trophy
Thank you to Derek Jury who supplied the following information.
The Ken Smith team has had a great start to the competition. Last week the pairings of Scott Henderson & Chris Male, Ron Harris & Phil Beaman, Glyn Hughes & Derek Jury played away at Henlle Park and managed to win 2-1.
This week at Home, the Shrewsbury team managed to beat Hawkstone Park 3 -0 Congratulations to Glyn Hughes and Scott Henderson who had a great win 1 up against a strong pairing of Nigel Chesters and Colin Young. The remaining 2 pairs enjoyed a very comfortable win; Ray Buttery & Derek Jury won 4 and 3. Ron Harris and Phil Beaman won 4 and 3.
The Foursomes Final
Due to other commitments family weddings etc. the foursomes final was delayed until last weekend. Rob Oakley and David Fisher played David Gradwell and David Slater in an enthralling match which went right up to the 36th hole.
The 2 Davids took the lead after the morning session but after a good lunch Rob and David started to make a comeback eventually taking the trophy on the final green.
Hargrove Results
Last weekend was the start of the Hargrove and both A and B teams were in action. The A team played away at Bridgnorth, but unfortunately lost 3 -0 with a deficit of 8 holes. Hopefully with a strong performance at home in the return match they can redeem the situation.
The B team enjoyed a good 3 - 0 and 13 holes win against Kington and are now in a great position to proceed through to next round.
Mixed Friendly Shrewsbury V Oswestry
Although only a friendly this match is always fiercely contested. When I asked Mr Oakley how the match went a result sheet was produced. Congratulations to the Shrewsbury team who won 6 - 4 and yes a special mention to Rob Oakley and Karen Thaw who won their match 8 & 7!
Congratulations to one of our new members Dale Richards who recently had a lesson with Simon and then went out and got a hole in one on the Second.
The gents seniors played their penultimate match away at South Staffs GC on Wednesday, the course was in fantastic condition, as were the greens, that were exceptionally quick!! Shrewsbury achieved a very creditable draw 4-4. Well done chaps.

Captain / Pro Matches
The Captain and I took on the Seniors Captain Adrian Price and Vice-Captain Allan McVittie on Tuesday. The weather was perfect and so was our start picking up a few birdies on the first 7 holes to take the lead, but the match turned as Allan made a 3 nett 2 on the 8th and Adrian's 4 nett 3 on the 11th got the match back to all square. The remaining holes became a battle as the Captain and I struggled to make birdies or nett birdies and we were eventually out played by Adrian's 12 foot putt on the 17th for a 3 nett 2 and Allan holing an 8 foot putt on the 18th to secure their 1 hole victory.
Congratulations to Adrian and Allan who fought back well playing some great golf and Kindly donated money to the Captains charity.
