Despite the sleet and hail storms this week competitive golf has continued and we are due to finish Winter Rules Tomorrow 30th April.

This weekend we have a Junior Medal on Saturday 11am - 12.

Sunday The mixed Largs Trophy 10.30 till 12. (There are still some spaces so please check on the golf club web site) 

Bank Holiday Monday Stableford -  there is no need to book a time, please enter in the pro shop.




Many of you have been changing your woods at the start of the season and we are building a large collection of second hand ones which have been traded in.

Please call in if you are interested in a good deal on a second hand club or an ex demo. We have some great deals on some ex demo Titleist woods. 


 

Congratulations to Josh who will be starting a his new job next week as PGA Assistant Professional at the Berkshire Golf Club.

Josh has worked at Shrewsbury Golf club for 5 years in which time he became PGA qualified and won a number of golf tournaments including the 2015 S& H order of merit.

This winter he experienced travelling around the European tour caddying for his friend James Busby before returning to Shrewsbury at Easter. 

I am delighted for Josh that he has taken this wonderful opportunity to pursue his career at one of the finest golf clubs in the country.

I am sure you would all like to wish him every success with his new appointment.




Seniors Coaching 

We held the final session last Wednesday on Chipping. I would like to thank all the seniors who attended the sessions the feedback was very positive with many of you stating that you had picked up many useful tips and had enjoyed sessions.

Ladies Coaching Tuesday 3rd May 10.30 till 11.30am

After the huge success of the seniors coaching we are now starting the lady member's sessions. Each session is £7.50 or £30 if you wish to attend all 6. Each session focusses on a different aspect with the first session focussing on woods.

On the course this week all the greens have been aerated at 6inches using solid tines. All walk off areas have been aerated too and these areas will be overseeded and fertilized again next week to help further recovery.

The grass is now growing quickly with the course requiring a full cut again this week.

The greens are really performing well at the moment with pace and trueness. We also have a new employee who has joined our team called Ben, who is settling in very well. 




The Greenhous Group have generously provided sponsorship for the seniors section.

On Tuesday 19th April Shrewsbury's Seniors entertained visitors from Bridgnorth GC, the match was very well contested. Bridgnorth ran out eventual winners, 4.5-3.5.

Shrewsbury have got off to a 'Slow Start' but I am confident that 'skill will show through' eventually !!!
