The golf course has started to dry out with the high winds and milder conditions. This has enabled all this week's competitions to go ahead as scheduled. We had mixed fortunes in the Club matches last weekend with the Hargrove B team going through to the next round of the Plate Competition. The A team played against a very strong Bridgnorth team and unfortunately lost all three matches but we hope they can turn this around in the return fixture.
The Daily Mail Vs Arscott
Shrewsbury won 5 - 0
Rob Oakley selected a very strong team to represent the golf club in this national competition. David Fisher, David Gilmour, Alistair McCormick, Jeff Moody & Kevin Taylor Lee. Some of these had been on a pre season training camp with Rob in Turkey and it obviously paid dividend. We wish them all the best in the next round.

Jon Volans, deputy head green keeper, will be leaving Shrewsbury Golf Club next Friday 12th Feb. Jon has enjoyed the past 9 years and is leaving with many good memories. Jon currently lives in Knighton and is planning to run his own lawn care business. He sends all the members his best wishes and will miss the many friends he has made.
We wish Jon well with his new venture.
Congratulations are in order for Kim Stanley who acheived his first hole in one at Shrewsbury GC after 35 years of membership on January 16th at the second hole. Kim hit a perfect 5 wood from the winter tee and the rest is history!
Well done Kim!
